ORLANDO, FL (August 25, 2020) – Trek, Catrike and Salsa Cycles dealer David’s World Cycle recently opened two new locations in Central and Northern Florida, opening in Orlando/Waterford Lakes Town Center in July, and in Gainesville in August, and now operate 20 bike shops across the state.

Locally owned since 1989 by David Sanborn, David and his wife Yvette – who serves as the company’s CEO – are excited to bring biking to more people throughout Florida. “We have been blessed to get so many new guests on bikes this year and for the opportunity to open our two [Waterford Lakes and Gainesville] stores during such a challenging time for our state. It has been exciting to see more and more people outside riding and enjoying such an amazing activity to get out of the house. I am proud of what our team is doing each and every day – creating smiles and amazing experiences,” said David.

The Orlando/Waterford Lakes Town Center store is the second of their locations to occupy a major shopping center and has already seen happy guests who have come to the shop before or after shopping at the mall’s other retailers. Located just ten miles to the east of downtown Orlando, the store is a convenient option for guests who live between the coast and downtown.

At the Gainesville store, which occupies the space of the former Gator Cycle – a longstanding Trek dealer in the area – David looks forward to reaching a new demographic with over 50,000 students enrolled at the University of Florida, just a mile south of the store. Gainesville’s growing population, a thriving art and restaurant scene, and walkable campus/downtown make it an exciting place to see biking grow.

The mission of David’s World Cycle has remained the same, even with the new stores: ”We offer only products and services we love, provide awesome hospitality to our guests, and improve our world by getting more people on bikes.” This mission and keeping a “local” atmosphere at every store is close to David and Yvette’s hearts, with David building bikes and visiting the teams five or six days per week. The couple continues to lead a live Zoom meeting with all 20 stores every morning sharing “mission moments” and how the teams made their guests’ days. The calls also help to connect the teams and ensure a guest of David’s World Cycle has the same great bike shop experience, no matter which store they walk into. The Sanborns are committed to providing the best guest experience in the communities they and their teams live and work, and use the daily team calls to review opportunities and strive for continual growth and improvement.

With the addition of the two new stores and the recent growth in bike sales, they hope to fill up to 10 full and part-time positions at locations in Gainesville, Wildwood/The Villages, Inverness, Melbourne, and others.
