April 28, 2020 - ROUVY, in the joint effort with Saris to help the badly affected Italian regions, reports the result of 14K Euro for the Veneto region.

All athletes who train at home with a bike trainer could participate in #RideforItaly Cycling Challenge. ROUVY, the indoor training application for cyclists and triathletes, offered free access and four attractive Italian routes to ride to support Italy. The Challenge had a breaking record (on the platform) participation of over 14K riders. ROUVY decided to donate 1 EURO for everyone who joined the Challenge for a cause and liven up their own quarantine and training. Those who completed all 4 routes have unlocked a special branded jersey for their avatars.

Saris, a US producer of smart trainers, bike racks, and bike infrastructure and one of the ROUVY’s partners in the USA, joined this charitable marathon. Thanks to the greatly appreciated participation by Saris, the Challenge period was extended by 14 days. Saris donated half of the sum, which is 7,000 euros. A total of 14,000 euros have been sent to the open account of the Veneto region to be used to finance measures taken by that region to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Veneto is the fourth most affected region in Italy, and doctors currently have registered over 16,000 infected people. It is not only the city of Venice itself, but also, the seaside tourist centers of Jesolo, Caorle or Bibione, the cities of Verona, Treviso, and Padua, and the Alpine resort of Cortina d'Ampezzo. Veneto is one of the busiest regions for tourists and the measures taken to seize the spread of COVID-19 hit its inhabitants hard.

ROUVY’s Italian ambassador, Emidio Terra, “I think it was an initiative that brought out the best in us, everyone did their part as a great TEAM. It is a Challenge that we realized together, in which I was able to become part of a great project. I feel happy that this initiative was carried out through a platform like ROUVY. This allowed us to train on the one hand (also providing us with free access to the platform, helping to brighten our quarantine days), and on the other, to be able to do something influential for our country while respecting the rules imposed by the lockdown.”
