SPECIALIZED SUPPORTS COVID-19 ESSENTIAL WORKERS

WHAT: Bikes provide healthy, reliable, and convenient transportation while practicing safe social distancing. WHEN: The community referral program begins April 13, 2020 and will run through April 22, 2020.

WHERE: Consumers can visit www.specialized.com/essential-transportation for more details on how to get involved nationwide.

WHY: Keeping essential workers moving is critical for our communities. The impact of COVID-19 is hard to process, and the actions we can take often feel small in comparison to the scale of the problem. Together, using the power of the bicycle, we can help make life a little easier for those on the front lines.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
1. REFER AN ESSENTIAL WORKER
2. MATCH IN YOUR COMMUNITY
3. DONATE A BIKE

1. REFER AN ESSENTIAL WORKER
Specialized is inviting anyone in the United States to refer essential workers in their communities to apply for a new bike that Specialized will provide free of charge. Send the referral link to an essential worker in your community that's in need of reliable transportation or fill out the form yourself if you're a worker in need of transportation for your essential work. Specialized will be collecting submissions through April 22, 2020. Donations will be made on a first-come-first- served basis to qualified applicants while supplies last.
2. MATCH IN YOUR COMMUNITY
Specialized has partnered with Transportation Alternatives in New York City, where the need is most acute, and is providing bikes that will be matched with essential workers in need of a dependable method of transportation. Riders in the New York area that might have a bike that they no longer need, can contribute by donating it to Transportation Alternatives, or another bike match program closer to their community. More programs are emerging almost weekly with the leadership of Transportation Alternatives. You can find out more on how to Create a Match Program here.
3. DONATE A BIKE
Any bike purchased from Specialized's Essential Rides for Essential Workers webpage will be contributed to the donation fleet and matched with a qualifying individual in need of essential transportation.
