Veteran journalist to lead new advocacy organization

Santa Rosa, Calif. —The California Mountain Biking Coalition, the first-ever statewide advocacy organization serving mountain bikers has named an interim executive director, veteran journalist Patrick Brady.

Brady is an award-winning journalist known as the publisher of the blog Red Kite Prayer as well as the Paceline podcast. His features have appeared everywhere from Bicycling Magazine to Dirt Rag. With 30 years experience in the bike industry, his connection are broad and deep.

His mission will be to help the organization gain visibility and funding so that it can begin to lobby in Sacramento. CAMTB's slogan, "More trails. Better trails." speaks to the organization's mission to improve and increase trail access for mountain bikers throughout the state of California by providing a unified voice.

"I'm excited that we found someone like Patrick, he's an ideal fit for CAMTB's needs," says Jake Bayless, the president of CAMTB's board. "He's an entrepreneurial and witty wordsmith who is accustomed to navigating multiple technical roles. It was imperative that we hire someone who is also a passionate advocate for cycling and has a big tent perspective. It would be nearly impossible to find someone whose ties to the bike industry are as deep as his. These are qualities that Patrick brings as we lobby on behalf of nonprofits from all over California with sometimes very different needs. We're lucky to add him to an already connected, engaged and motivated Board of Directors team."

The organization's membership model, committee structures, and foundational programs are being developed with feedback from participating organizations and legal counsel. All California mountain biking and trail advocates, prospective board members or sponsors are invited to join the CAMTB Slack channel at camtb.slack.com.

Patrick can be reached at Patrick@camtb.org or (916) 31-CAMTB.
