Niner Bikes Donates 3 Custom Painted RIP 9 RDO Frames for IMBA Benefit Auction

Continuing a longstanding Niner tradition, 100% of the auction proceeds from these one-of-a-kind bikes will benefit IMBA trail projects.

Fort Collins, Colorado (November 11, 2019) – Niner Bikes is happy to announce the latest in a long line of custom painted bikes donated to IMBA in support of trail access around the world. These one-of-a-kind RIP 9 RDO frames were designed by Niner Senior Graphic Designer Nate Adams and painted by Spectrum Paint and Powder Works. Assembled with parts donated by IMBA supporters including SRAM, FSA, Ergon, and Maxxis, the bikes are available now for bidding. 100% of the proceeds will benefit IMBA.

“Since I began this company more than a decade ago, Niner has been a staunch supporter of IMBA,” said Chris Sugai, founder and president of Niner Bikes. “From ‘Day 1,’ our mission has been to make riding on dirt better, period. One of the ways we do that is by advocating for places to ride. We're committed to dirt, in every sense of the phrase.”

Niner has donated three of these custom RIP 9 RDO frames to IMBA for this latest fundraising auction effort. The raw frames were painted by Spectrum Paint and Powder Works in Boulder, Colorado. These one-off bikes are dressed with build kits including parts from other longtime IMBA supporters such as SRAM, FSA, Maxxis, and Ergon.

"Spectrum was awesome to work with and they did a great job," says Nate Adams, Niner Senior Designer and the mastermind behind the bike design. "I tried to play off IMBA's recent branding and color palette update. The bikes look amazing with the masking and rainbow fade."

The bike auction is being hosted by The Pros Closet, another IMBA supporter. While TPC is no longer focusing on the eBay store model, they graciously offered to help Niner and IMBA to effectively broadcast the story and host the auction.

“We love to see mountain bike trails be as common as ballfields. That’s a very tall goal but it’d be great if most communities had trails right in their backyards,” says IMBA’s executive director, Dave Wiens. “Not every community can have backcountry trails, but some can have a bike park the same way you’d have a skate park, something for people to get out on.”
