MADISON, Wisc. — Saris Infrastructure on Wednesday unveiled a massive update to its portfolio of bike parking. What began as a modest project to modularize the Stadium Rack, a freestanding hoops-on-rails bicycle parking rack, morphed into a wholesale upgrade to the entire outdoor bicycle parking portfolio with an emphasis on safety and the first Cargo Bike Dock.
Designed specifically for long-tails, Bakfiets (Dutch-style), or cargo trikes, the Saris Infrastructure Cargo Bike Dock gives the cargo bike the space and security it deserves. Made from 2-inch square tubing, bike thieves with pipe-cutters don’t stand a chance at cutting a cargo bike free. Plus, an articulating lock bracket allows standard “U” and cable locks to reach the locking points of the bike for extra security and peace of mind.
“With the proliferation of cargo bikes in U.S. cities and neighborhoods, we see this as a promising sign that more people are choosing cargo bikes to make the trips long reserved for cars,” said Mike Basarich, director of Saris Infrastructure. “And when those trips happen, an infrastructure need arises. That’s how the Cargo Bike Dock came to be. Our chief engineer found he couldn’t properly secure his new cargo bike to a traditional bike parking rack. He immediately set to work on a solution for those looking to travel and live via cargo bike.”
Following the theme of safety, Saris Infrastructure also rolled out its High Security Bike Dock. Featuring 2-inch square tubing, an internal braided steel cable and reinforced anchors, this bike rack is the end-all, be-all in bike parking security.
“We wanted to build a rack that thwarts bike thieves at every turn,” Basarich said. “The High Security Bike Dock fits the bill. Pipe-cutters, a reciprocating saw and compromised anchors don’t stand a chance against this rack.”
With this modular upgrade to its outdoor bike parking product line, Saris Infrastructure is excited to offer bike parking that can be customized to meet specific customer needs. Using the Stadium Rack as the foundation, any of its inverted “U”-shaped racks, including Custom Branded and High Security, can be orientated in either a straight or angled configuration for a setup that’s as unique as it is flexible. With this level of customization, outdoor bike parking doesn’t get more innovative or adaptable than this.
