F.I.S.T., the bike fit system attached to Slowtwitch.com and Dan Empfield, will debut a new fit process for road and gravel bikes at its Autumn bike fit workshop.
The first dynamic fit system using x and y coordinates for bike prescribing was F.I.S.T, and the terms “stack” and “reach,” ubiquitous on bicycle geometry charts, were Slowtwitch concepts and debuted at a F.I.S.T Workshop in 2003. These processes for establishing fit coordinates, then translating these coordinates into complete bike solutions, were the templates for all similar systems that followed. F.I.S.T. remains independent of any bike brand.
“Changes in bike design have found all prescriptive bike fit systems wanting, and we’ve seen a significant number of new bikes that don’t conform to typical prescription techniques,” said Dan Empfield, founder of F.I.S.T. and Slowtwitch. “In response, F.I.S.T. will unveil a new system, with new nomenclature, with new landmarks on the bike to measure.”
The new F.I.S.T. system will launch at the November F.I.S.T. Workshop taking place November 4-8 at the Slowtwitch Compound near Los Angeles (the area is ideal for lots of bike riding so attendees can return home fitter than when they arrived). Taking place over five days, the cost is $495 to register and $1,495 total, and includes teaching processes for road, gravel and triathlon bikes.
