SAN FRANCISCO (BRAIN) — Spinlister — a peer-to-peer system that matches bike owners with people who want to rent bikes — is launching a program to help bike shops rent out bikes.
The company's new Bike Shop Partner Program follows a beta rollout this summer.
"We believe that Spinlister can play an integral role in creating new revenue streams for bike shops," said CEO Marcelo Loureiro. "Not only can our platform power online and in-store rentals, but it can also help shops sell more new bikes through our exclusive rent-to-buy demo program."
The program gives bike shops the opportunity to access the platform's worldwide community of renters and generate revenue from unsold inventory. The company offers free setup, customization, iPad kiosks and tech support. All bikes rented through Spinlister are covered by liability insurance and a $10,000 guarantee.
Spinlister previously promoted its service as a way for shops to manage pre-sale bike demos.
