FORT WORTH, Texas (BRAIN) — Texas retailer Bicycle World is the presenting sponsor of the new Elevate Cycling team, which is making the leap from USA Cycling's elite amateur ranks to become a UCI continental team in 2016.
Ft. Worth-based Elevate Credit is the title sponsor for the second year, and other sponsors include Castelli, Michelin, WD40 Bike, Source Endurance, Chamois Butt'r, Lazer, Reed and Scardino and Profile Design. The team has been racing in the amateur ranks for five seasons.
"It's exciting that Elevate has the faith in the program to support it at a higher level," said Elevate Pro Cycling's owner, John McAllister. "Also, to be the first team to be truly owned and operated out of Texas, is special for me and our key sponsors."
Adam Mills, president of Source Endurance coaching, will be Elevate Pro Cycling's performance director. New Zealander Heath Blackgrove will be Elevate Pro Cycling's sport director with assistance from countryman and training partner Logan Hutchings. Both will exchange the role of team captain on the road throughout the season.
Bicycle World has six locations and is adding a seventh. The retailer will provide bikes for the team.
