Published November 24, 2014

FERNDALE, Wash. (BRAIN) — Kona has recalled its 2014 Wo fat bike due to concerns that the fork can crack or break at the junction of the crown and steerer column. In a notice on its website, Kona said there has been one U.S. report of a steerer tube breaking, with no injury reported.

The recall affects 531 bikes sold from September 2013 to July 2014 with a Kona Fat Project Two Disc Fork. As of Monday afternoon, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission had not issued an official recall notice.

Kona has asked consumers to stop using the bikes immediately and contact their Kona dealer for instructions on receiving a replacement fork. Consumers are also urged to contact Kona directly at (800) 566-2872 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Pacific time Monday-Friday or by email at wo.recall@konaworld.com.
