Tern recalls some frames

EMERYVILLE, CA (BRAIN) — Tern is conducting a voluntary recall of some bike models because the company has discovered a weakness in the frame welds.

Affected bike models are Verge S11i, X10, X20, X30h, and Eclipse S11i, produced between September 2011 and March 2012. P-Level Verge and Eclipse frames are not affected. Customers with affected bikes are being advised to stop using the bikes immediately.

The bikes can be identified by serial numbers. On Verge X and S series and Eclipse S11i, the affected serial numbers start with AM1A and the series of AM1102 through AM1207, inclusive.

Customers also can check Service Tag Number against the list of affected tag numbers online at www.ternbicycles.com/frame-replacement-notice. The Service Tag is located on the underside of the down tube and comprises a QR Code and corresponding Service Tag Number. The Service Tag Number is the 8-character serial number underneath the QR Code.
