Bell recalls BMX helmet sold at Toys "R" Us

Published March 28, 2013

WASHINGTON, DC (BRAIN) — Bell Helmets is working with the Consumer Product Safety Commission to recall about 2,500 BMX helmets sold exclusively at Toys R Us. The helmet's buckle can release on impact, allowing the helmet to fall off the rider.

This recall involves the Bell Full Throttle, a full-face BMX helmet. The affected helmets are all-black and have the UPC code 035011 937052 and part number 1009159 printed on a label on the side of the helmet shell. The Bell logo is on the front and lower side of the helmet.

Toys R Us stores nationwide and online at ToysRUs.com between July 2012 and January 2013 for about $60.

Bell has reported no injuries as a result of the faulty buckle.

Consumers are being told to stop using the helmets immediately and contact Bell Sports for instructions on receiving a full refund. They can call Bell Sports Inc. toll-free at (866) 892-6059 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, or visit the firm’s website at bellbikestuff.com and click on “Recall Notice” for more information.
