QBP to open Reno distribution center in December

Published October 16, 2015

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (BRAIN) — Quality Bicycle Products has announced plans to open a distribution center in the Reno, Nev., area to serve its Western U.S. dealers.

The company's fourth U.S. facility is set to begin operations on Dec. 10 of this year.

Q-Reno will offer overnight ground service beginning with dealers located in California, Nevada, and parts of Idaho. Retailers in Arizona, Oregon, and Washington can expect to receive overnight ground shipping by mid-January.

Regional carrier OnTrac will be handling much of the next-day ground services out of Q-Reno.

"We're very excited to be partnering with OnTrac to provide our Western dealers with overnight ground service," said Kim Brown, QBP's director of distribution. "We chose OnTrac because of its one-day service area and because they can save our customers money when shipping larger, bulkier items like bikes, car racks or helmets."

Products stocked in the 75,000-square-foot warehouse will be chosen based on order frequency in the region. As time goes on, the number of SKUs at Q-Reno will grow based on sales trends. Included among the initial SKUs will be products from QBP's in-house brands and exclusives including Lazer, Quality Wheels and Surly. In addition to offering one-day service, the new facility will also have on-site sales and customer service staff.

"Offering an expanded level of service to our western U.S. dealers is a huge step forward in our ongoing commitment to serving the local bike shop," said QBP's president, Rich Tauer. The Q-Reno location joins QBP's other distribution facilities in Ogden, Utah; Bloomington, Minn.; and Lancaster, Pa.
