Velo Orange plans dealer tour in solar-powered Airstream trailer

Published May 12, 2015

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (BRAIN) — Bike touring brand Velo Orange will embark on a season-long dealer tour starting this month, traveling in retro style in a vintage solar-powered Airstream trailer.

The Grand Cruz Dealer Tour is named for a Velo Orange bike model. Industry veterans John Byfield and Kate Heber of Flying Cloud Enterprises LLC have contracted with Velo Orange to produce the tour, serving as Velo Orange emissaries. The tour starts this month with visits to dealers along the West Coast. The tour will later attend RAGBRAI as part of a Midwest and Rocky Mountain tour, and finish off the season with a tour of the Southwest.

"Velo Orange represents that which we think is interesting and unique in the bicycle industry, and we are excited to help represent them to the IBD. In an industry that is becoming increasingly commoditized, VO offers dealers an opportunity to interact with their customers with a product they can be proud of and to reach a growing segment of the market that is underserved," said Byfield. "The goal of the tour is to spotlight and support those dealers who have embraced the niche in the market VO targets, and to draw consumers to their store."

Dealer visits may include everything from simple product presentations to in-store sales training and consumer shows.

Current or new Velo Orange dealers who would like to request a visit are encouraged to contact the Grand Cruz at (541) 408-5754 or info@thegrandcruz.com

The Grand Cruz Dealer Tour will be in a 1962 Airstream trailer.
