Jay Townley to speak at recumbent trade show

Published April 29, 2014

ST. CHARLES, Ill. (BRAIN) — Industry expert Jay Townley will share "The Top 10 Secrets of Super-Successful Bike Shops" in a pair of presentations at the 2014 Recumbent Cycle-Con Trade Show and Convention, set for Oct. 10-12 at the DuPage Expo Center outside of Chicago.

Townley's seminars will be held on the conference's first two days, and they "will be of interest and benefit to any recumbent dealership looking to gain market share, gain new customer, and operate a more profitable retail store," according to an event release. The seminars are free to all retailers and staff registered for the conference.

Previously held at the Pomona Fairplex in Southern California, the Recumbent Cycle-Con relocates to St. Charles, Illinois—about 30 miles west of Chicago—for its third edition this year. The move for 2014 and beyond will allow the show to grow and provides easier access for more bicycle dealers and consumers than a West Coast location, said Chuck Coyne, Recumbent Cycle-Con founder and publisher of Recumbent & Tandem Rider Magazine. The Midwest is also a very active market for recumbent riding and retail, he added.

Opening day—Friday, Oct. 10—is an industry-only trade show displaying the latest in recumbent bicycles, trikes, gear and accessories. Oct. 11 and 12 are open to the public.

Dealers and shop employees can register for free before Oct. 1, and special lodging rates are available at host hotel the Hilton Garden Inn.
