Niner sponsors Crusher in the Tushar race

Published December 16, 2013

FORT COLLINS, CO (BRAIN) — Niner Bikes, which introduced its first drop-bar bike this fall, will be the official bike sponsor of the 2014 Crusher in the Tushar, a tough dirt road endurance race in Utah.

The July 12 race is promoted by former road racing pro Burke Swindlehurst. In its first three years, it has attracted fields including Olympic champions, Tour de France riders and some of the best mountain bikers in the country.

The race is about half dirt and half pavement. “The biggest dilemma most participants encounter is deciding what bike to ride," said Carla Hukee, Niner's global marketing manager. "The Crusher has been won on 'cross bikes, but we think the new (Niner) RLT 9 is going to be the perfect weapon for 2014. The gravel grinder geometry is designed specifically for this kind of long haul ride – with a lower bottom bracket and slightly slacker head angle, it should be quite a bit more stable than other options on the long, dirt road, mountain descents.”

Registration for the 2014 event opens on Jan. 8. More information: tusharcrusher.com
