Pashley Cycles celebrates 90th anniversary with launch of two Special Edition bikes

Published July 20, 2016

STRATFORD-UPON-AVON, United Kingdom (BRAIN) — Pashley Cycles, England's longest established bicycle manufacturer, has launched two special edition bicycles to celebrate its 90th anniversary.

The "Speed 3 SE" and "Roadfinder SE" models commemorate the past and present day activities of the business.

Pashley's general manager, Steven Bell, says: "Pashley is unique; it is one of the last U.K. bicycle businesses that actually manufactures its own bicycles and offers the most extensive model range of all of the remaining U.K. makers. We are rightly proud of our products, our factory and our employees."

More than 50 people are employed at the Stratford-upon-Avon factory, which works with more than 95 U.K.-based suppliers and sub-contractors.

The Speed 3 SE celebrates 1926, the year the company was founded by William 'Rath' Pashley. It is inspired by the path racers which were popular at that time and features a traditional Reynolds 531 steel frame in satin black with chrome and bright alloy components. These features, along with frame lug detailing and classic number plate, are reminiscent of the Art Deco period of the mid-1920s. The model is equipped with the Sturmey Archer 3 speed hub. A unique headbadge has also been recreated for the special edition. It's available in 20.5-inch, 22.5-inch and 24.5-inch frame sizes.

The Roadfinder SE features a Pashley hand-crafted Reynolds 725 steel frame in a dusk-silver finish with a polished Reynolds 921 stainless steel chainstay. Components include a full Shimano Ultegra 2x11 mechanical groupset, Ultegra wheelset, Brooks lightweight C13 saddle with carbon rails, and GB handlebars and stem. Available in sizes: 50, 53, 56, and 59cm.

"We recognise our heritage, but we are not stuck in the past, we are continually creating new products for the various markets and customers around the world that we serve. We are a forward looking business, with a great team of people who are working towards our continued success," said Bell.
