HELSINKI (BRAIN) — Mavic sales grew 8 percent in the first quarter of 2014, to 39 million euros ($54 million) worldwide, according to an interim report released Thursday by Mavic parent Amer Sports.
Sales of Mavic’s softgoods were up 14 percent.
Amer, based in Finland, owns Mavic as well as Salomon, Wilson, Atomic, Arcteryx, Precor and Suunto. The French cycling brand’s sales accounted for about 8 percent of Amer’s total quarterly sales of 502 million euros ($692 million).
Overall, Amer’s sales were up about 6 percent in the quarter, with the biggest growth areas coming in Sports Instruments (up 23 percent), Apparel (up 21 percent) and Footwear (up 14 percent).
Sales in Amer’s Winter Sports business was off 7 percent and Ball Sports sales were down by the same percentage.
