SRAM to provide neutral race support at US Ironman and World Championship events

Published October 7, 2014

CHICAGO (BRAIN) — SRAM has signed on as the official neutral race support (NRS) provider for the World Triathlon Corporation's US Ironman Series.

SRAM will offer pre-race technical assistance to both pro and amateur athletes at select Ironman events, including day-of-race Zipp wheel rentals. At the upcoming world championships in Kona, Hawaii, SRAM will be the official in-race pro neutral support partner. SRAM technicians will provide service from one car, two motorcycles, and two scooters that will continuously patrol the 112-mile bike leg.

"We wanted to work with SRAM, who does an amazing job of activating their partnerships, and who has a great history of support along with a true understanding of athletes' needs," said Andrew Messick, the CEO of Ironman.

Alex Wassmann, SRAM's road sports marketing director, said, "There are few things more critical to an athlete than showing up at an major event with equipment as ready as they are to perform. This partnership will give Ironman competitors a professional and convenient service option at the races for their bike. It's really about having one less thing for them to worry about ahead of their race."
