Published January 11, 2024

WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — Retrospec is recalling its Scout kids' bike helmets because they don't comply with the Consumer Product Safety Commission's coverage, positional stability, and labeling requirements and can fail to protect.

About 72,000 helmets in the U.S. are affected, with an additional 150 in Canada. No injuries or incidents have been reported.

Consumers should stop using the helmets and contact Retrospec for a full refund. Retrospec can be reached toll-free at 888-488-2369 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. PT Monday through Friday or online.

The recalled helmets are in sizes XS and S and sold in the following colors and designs: blippi, blush, brash blue, chameleon, cool mint, matte forest green, matte black, matte navy, matte white, matte burnt orange, matte green, matte royal blue, and matte whisper pink.

They were sold with a green hang tag label with "Retrospec," the Scout name, and helmet size. "Retrospec" or the Retrospec "R" logo is on the helmet's right side.

The Scout helmets were sold at T Scheels, Play it Again Sports, and independent bicycle stores nationwide and online at Retrospec.com and Amazon.com from February 2019 through March 2023 for between $18 and $23.
