Pro Cyclists Join Giro to Launch New Eyewear Line

Published October 16, 2007

SANTA CRUZ, CA (BRAIN)--Tour de France winner Alberto Contador of the Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team and popular French pro cyclist Nicolas Portal of the Caisse d'Epargne Cycling Team, have signed agreements to exclusively use Giro’s new line of sport performance sunglasses.

The riders have put the Havik model to the test during the three weeks of the Tour de France.

“I’m stoked with the response we have received from Alberto and Nicolas. After the first couple days of the Tour, we received messages from both of them telling us the quality of the Havik is incredible, and several other riders have asked about Giro Sunglasses. I’m looking forward to expanding Giro’s Eyewear roster with top riders in all cycling disciplines,” said Chuck Platt, sports marketing manager at Giro.

The Havik sunglasses were designed using Giro’s proprietary combination of Super Fit engineering and True Sight technology for accurate vision and protection. The collection will make its international launch at Eurobike and domestic launch at Interbike.
