GRAND JUNCTION, CO (BRAIN)—Scott Winans has been hired by Mountain Racing Products as its new vice president of engineering.

He will work closely with Ryan Cranston and Darek Barefoot to help develop new product lines.

Winans has a Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering and has worked at a variety of high-tech organizations such as the NASA Space Engineering Research Center, General Dynamics, Hughes Aircraft, and for the past 11 years as the director of research and development with Estes-Cox. Winan’s work background ranges from space launch vehicles to cruise missile performance to directing the design and development of flying model aircraft and rockets.

“It’s great to have Scott back in the Grand Valley," said MRP's Paul Aieta. "Scott has been a mountain biker since the mid 80s. He helped build a lot of the trails around Fruita, designed bicycle frames with Edge Cycles and co-owns a local high-end MTB shop in Palisade. Scott is passionate about bicycle performance and will bring a new level of design and engineering to our company that we plan to put into some progressive components over the next few years”.

“I’m excited about my move to MRP and the opportunity to bring a new developmental edge to a solid cycling industry company with a great presence in the mountain biking arena," Winans said.
