Sugoi Hires New COO

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (BRAIN)—Sugoi Performance Apparel, a division of Dorel Industries, has hired B. James Bottoms as the company's as chief operating officer.

Bottoms arrives at Sugoi from Mountain Hardwear, Inc., where as director of operations he served on the five-person executive team overseeing all aspects of the company’s customer service and distribution, production, supply chain and logistics, planning and purchasing.

As a lead liaison between Mountain Hardwear and its parent company, he directed the company’s multi-million dollar capital investment project that led to a new headquarters building and its first retail store, as well as overseeing a 98 percent on-time shipping record.

Sugoi president Stan Mavis said, “This is a tremendous example of Dorel Industries providing us with the resources and vision to push Sugoi forward as an incredibly vibrant and growing brand. James is absolutely at the top of his profession, and his addition will have enormous benefits to our operations and expansion.”

Prior to joining Mountain Hardwear, Bottoms was the director of global operations at Eagle Creek from 2001 to 2005. In that position, he helped direct customer service, distribution, sourcing, inventory, logistics and warranty/returns. He has also served as international sales and customer service account manager at Freudenberg Nonwovens in San Francisco and in top positions from 1995 to 2000 at Chorus Line Corporation in Los Angeles.

Bottoms served as a working group vice chair for the Outdoor Industry Association and as a board member for the Apparel Technology and Research Center. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Oklahoma Christian University in 1993.
