Published October 16, 2007

MEQUON, WI (BRAIN)—Hayes Bicycle Group (HBG) has formed a new product management team led by senior product manager John Otis.

Scott Boyd will have responsibility for the Sun Ringlé and Wheelsmith brands, including Sun rims, Ringlé hubs, Wheelsmith spokes, and SunRinglé wheels.

Rich Travis will oversee the Hayes line of hydraulic and mechanical disc brakes, including the new Stroker hydraulic brake platform for cross-country, freeride, and downhill applications.

Otis came to HBG in 2006 through the acquisition of Answer Products, where he spent the past twelve years in product management, most recently overseeing the engineering and R&D groups. Otis will continue to have responsibility for Manitou suspension forks and shocks, as well as the Answer line of shoes and mountain bike hardware.

Boyd, who worked in retail for eight years, beginning in 1990, has been with HBG since 1998, where he has served as tech support manager and most recently, sponsorship/event coordinator. Travis also began his career in the bicycle industry working retail in 1994. Between 1996 and 2005, he held a number of positions at SRAM Corporation, including dealer service/warranty, marketing communications, and engineering. Travis joined HBG in 2005 as the test program manager for Hayes Disc Brakes. —Matt Wiebe
