MADE handmade bike show expands with Australia event

Published January 16, 2024

PORTLAND, Ore. (BRAIN) — The MADE handmade bike show, which held its first show last year in Portland, will add a second this June in Australia. The Made Australia show will be June 28-29 at the Darebin International Sports Centre in Thornbury, Victoria, near Melbourne. The second MADE show in Portland will be held Aug. 23-25.

The MADE Australia show will be held in conjunction with the 17th annual Melburn Roobaix, a non-competitive ride around Melbourne. The show is being coordinated by Andy White of FYXO (an Australian cycling apparel brand) and Portland's ECHOS Communications.

"Andy's passion for telling the story of the custom bike world through words and images has kept us close over the years, and we are thrilled to partner with FYXO to produce MADE Australia," said Billy Sinkford, co-founder of MADE and vice president of ECHOS. "Our mission remains the same: to elevate, inspire, and highlight the global handmade community. With Andy's deep relationships and event experience, MADE Australia will demonstrate the global reach of this vibrant community."

Show organizers said they had "interest and commitments" from builders including Baum, Prova, The Lost Workshop, Trinity MTB, Velo Craft, Partington Wheels, and others. Registration will open in February.

White said, "The custom bike industry is my world. While Australia is home, I've proudly been a global megaphone on behalf of those creating beautiful, custom bikes and accessories, and my company FYXO hosted the first Australian Custom Bicycle Show in 2012.

"The partnership with MADE gives us the needed infrastructure to provide exhibitors and attendees with an amazing experience capable of great growth. Billy and the team at ECHOS have been mates forever; there is no one better suited to bring this vision to life."

Consumer tickets will be available later this spring at made-bike.echoscomm.com.
