CPSC issues warning to stop using two helmets that failed to meet federal safety standards

Published September 7, 2023

WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued warnings to stop using two adult bike helmets because they failed federal safety standard tests.

The Cyclingsell Zacro helmets sold at Cyclingsell.com do not comply with federal positional stability, labeling, and certification safety standard requirements. The Tengingyue Vera Natura helmets sold at Walmart.com do not comply with federal positional stability, dynamic strength of retention system, nor label and certification safety standard requirements.

Both Chinese sellers, Cyclingsell.com and Tengingyue, have not agreed to a recall or offer consumers a remedy.

The CPSC urges consumers to stop using, cut the straps, and dispose of the helmets immediately. Report any incidents involving product injuries or defects to the CPSC.

The Zacro helmets were sold from April 2022 through July 2023 for about $50. The helmets were sold in size large and extra-large, fitting a head circumference of about 22 to 24 inches. The helmets are white with black accents, with a black and gray strap, a red and black buckle, and an adjustable spin dial on the back.

The Tengingyue Vera Natura helmets were sold from August 2022 through February 2023 for about $11. The helmets feature one adjustable adult size, have 11 vents, and are silver with a black striped pattern, black straps and a black buckle.
