MISSOULA, Mont. (BRAIN) — Industry PR pro and journalist Alex Strickland is joining the Adventure Cycling Association as assistant publications director, a new position at the organization.
Strickland will focus on producing Adventure Cyclist magazine and help manage the flow of other projects for the publications department of the association.
Strickland earned a journalism degree from the University of Montana and edited the Bigfork Eagle weekly newspaper in northwest Montana. Following his stint in newspapers, he worked at SOAR Communications, a public relations agency in Utah, with clients including Interbike, Outdoor Retailer, Sea Otter Classic, Primal and Kinetic.
"Adventure Cycling has been a dream destination since I lived across the street from their headquarters almost a decade ago," Strickland said. "I'm excited to work with the crew of talented contributors at Adventure Cyclist and the passionate team at Adventure Cycling. Montana singletrack won't be bad either."
"Alex is going to make a great addition to Adventure Cyclist and our publications team," said publications director Mike Deme. "I met Alex a few years ago at Interbike and we discussed the possibility of him joining us at Adventure Cycling. Knowing his background in journalism, the bike industry and his connection to Missoula, it seemed like a great fit. Now that it's a reality, we're excited to have Alex on board. He's got an excellent skill set and will help us maintain our growth trajectory at Adventure Cycling."
