Competitive Cyclist revises Strava promotion with goals and bike giveaways

Published May 20, 2015

PARK CITY, Utah (BRAIN) — Competitive Cyclist is giving away bikes to three riders chosen at random for among those who entered the e-commerce site's Strava Connect promotion last month.

After an overwhelming response, the Backcountry.com-owned retailer paused its Strava promotion, which originally was to award participants with $1 in store credit for each hour of riding recorded on Strava, up to a $40 per month limit.

The company announced Tuesday that the program is being revived and will now be built around prizes awarded based on participants' meeting various Strava goals and challenges that will be announced via emails and social media and the Competitive Cyclist club section on Strava.com.

Besides the prizes earned by meeting goals, the initial bike giveaway is open to those who joined the program during the two weeks that it was operating in April. Competitive Cyclist also will allow new participants to sign up during the month of June to be eligible for the giveaways. The winners will be announced July 2.

The company will chose at random from among the participants to award a Colnago CX Zero Evo road bike worth $7,200, a Ibis Mojo mountain bike worth $6,200 and a GT Grade Carbon 105 worth $2,600.
