IBD Summit now open for registration

Published November 21, 2013

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA (BRAIN) — Registration is now open for Interbike’s IBD Summit, returning for a third year to Monterey, California, just ahead of the Sea Otter Classic.

New content has been added to this year’s event, which is set for April 8-10 and is getting twice the investment compared with last year thanks to support from the National Bicycle Dealers Association and PeopleForBikes.

A new opening reception and keynote presentation kicks off the Summit on Tuesday, April 8, with adventurer and Wharton School of Business instructor Chris Warner, who has climbed both Mt. Everest and K2. His dramatic multimedia presentation will focus on teaching behaviors that drive results and how to build better leaders within organizations.

Other speakers over the three days include author and columnist Erika Napoletano, discussing “Brilliant Branding—How to Make Your Business Shine,” and consultant David Wechsler, whose session on “Effective Merchandise Planning” will provide real-world examples on how to  capitalize on opportunities, manage risk, sustain cash flow and get a better return on inventory investment.

The popular NBDA P2 (Profitability Project) session returns to share business data from the top 5 percent of retailers in the industry and provide context for Summit attendees to gauge where their businesses fall among their peers. Consultant Dan Mann of the Mann Group moderates the panel.

“We listened to all of the great feedback from last year and have gone out and secured some amazing talent for next year’s event,” said Pat Hus, vice president of Interbike. “The speakers we have lined up will take this event to a whole new level from anything this industry has ever seen or heard.”

New for 2014 is a Retailer Referral Program, designed to reward IBD Summit veteran retailers. Veteran retailers will be given a special link to forward to other IBDs that have never attended the Summit. For each new retailer that registers for the IBD Summit, a $100 credit will be issued to the veteran retailer toward his or her registration for the upcoming event. Veteran retailers who get three or more new retailers to register will have their registration fees waived.

Additionally, all registered retailers automatically get enrolled in the 2014 Interbike VIP Retailer Program, which offers numerous benefits at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center and Hotel during Interbike. VIP Program card holders get free food and beverages during the show in Las Vegas, as well as a host of other perks being developed.

Retailers can register at the IBD Summit website. Those registering before Dec. 31 will save $100 off the standard fee of $595.
