Continuing education for retailers through Mann University

Published May 29, 2013

ASHEVILLE, NC (BRAIN) — The Mann Group has launched a new training program for retailers in the cycling, outdoor and running industries. Mann University is a five-module curriculum that will run in four sessions in 2013. The three-day program is designed to help retailers foster long-term store growth and profitability.

“There are unique challenges for managers in the specialty retail world,” said Mark Bastin, The Mann Group’s chief marketing officer. “Mann University is a rare opportunity for these professionals to learn together and exchange insight and tactics in a focused setting. We believe it’s one of the best investments a store can make, not only for its team, but for its future.”

The Mann Group has worked with hundreds of outdoor retailers since 2003 providing training programs, assessments and consulting services. The company also works with manufacturers to create stronger brand identity and retailer partnerships.

"Leading with Impact," "Strategic Leadership for Results" and "Motivate and Lead as a Player/Coach" are among the courses offered. An additional three-hour session called "Leading Change and Team Building" covers topics like recruitment and performance management, and the two-hour "The Confident Communicator" session addresses how to remove obstacles to effective communication.

Mann University courses are limited to 20 students, with the first session running from July 22-24. Additional sessions will be held Aug. 12-14, Oct. 7-9 and Nov. 11-13. Accommodations, meals, activity fees and airport transfers are included in the $3,500 course fee.
