Ibex opens its second retail store

Published October 15, 2012

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, VT (BRAIN) — Vermont-based Ibex Outdoor Clothing is opening its second company store, this one in Seattle, Washington, next month.

Ibex already has a retail store on Boston's trendy Newbury Street that opened in 2010, as well an online store and store-within-stores at several outdoor speciality retailers around the country.

“Opening in Seattle is a natural fit for Ibex,” said John Fernsell, co-founder and CEO of Ibex. “The Pacific Northwest is a strong market for us, which made expansion to Seattle an easy decision.”

Ibex's 1,250-square-foot retail location in Seattle will be just north of downtown in University Village, at 2627 NE University Village Street.

The walls of the store will be made from exposed boards taken from a Vermont barn. Ibex is working with a local Seattle company, Myer Wells, to design the store’s cash wrap with reclaimed steel and a reclaimed wood countertop.
