Surf City Now a Specialized Concept

Published January 7, 2010

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (BRAIN)—Surf City Cyclery has opened its doors as a new Specialized Concept Store in Costa Mesa, California.

The new store was designed and executed by the Specialized Retail Services team and will span over 9,000 square feet, highlighting some of the best bikes and cycling products available.

Located on a palm tree-lined corner of 17th and Westminster, the Costa Mesa location will offer customers Specialized’s full Concept Store experience, with its dynamic visual installations, open floor plan and wide range of top-quality Specialized gear, including bikes, clothing and bicycle accessories.

“It’s been a long time coming,” said owner Sean Flynn. “But this new Concept store is the best thing we can do to offer Costa Mesa riders the quality and selection that they are looking for. There is a really deep cycling culture there, and we think expanding Surf City Cyclery in this location is a great move for us and Costa Mesa cyclists.”

Flynn added that Surf City Cyclery has always set themselves apart from other bike shops by offering a new, unique shopping experience, with an emphasis on the simple enjoyment of riding a bicycle.

“With this emphasis on selling customers the actual experience of cycling, in addition to the products, we can ensure that everyone who leaves Surf City Cyclery with a new bicycle is really excited about riding. We also make sure we maintain this enthusiasm after the sale with a highly experienced service staff and a lifetime of free adjustments to every bike we sell.”

This hard work, passion and unabashed enjoyment of their work is the key to the success of Surf City Cyclery’s original location, and one of the main reasons why Specialized’s Retail Services Team was so excited to work with them again in opening their second Concept Store.

“Surf City Cyclery runs a high class operation—there’s no question. They serve a great deal of people every day with a smile, and they are one of our favorite stores to work with—from a professional perspective and personally. They’re just great folks, and we’re excited to see what they can do with the new store,” said Nichole Perrin, Retail Services Manager.
