Scott USA Builds New Headquarters

Published June 26, 2008

SUN VALLEY, ID (BRAIN)—Scott USA employees are preparing to move into a new building the first week of July. Just a short walk down the street from its current office, the new U.S. headquarters offers three times the space and a host of amenities.

Scott USA had only been in its current building in Sun Valley for five years. But as its bike division expanded, it rapidly outgrew the space. This time, it planned ahead for additional growth.

“We don’t need all this space now; we’re really planning for the future,” said Scott Montgomery, general manager and vice president of Scott USA’s bike division.

“This is a really significant investment. It’s just saying we’re not going anywhere,” he added.

The building was a joint project between Scott and a local developer. Scott owns two-thirds of the building and the developer owns the remaining third.

Scott occupies the ground floor of the building. The top floor has a few penthouse apartments. The second floor offers 15 affordable condominiums, a few of which have been purchased by Scott employees. Montgomery said affordable housing is hard to find in the resort town and most company employees commute from other nearby towns such as Hailey.

The 33,000-square-foot office space includes a state-of-the-art kitchen, expansive lunchroom and men’s and women’s locker rooms with showers. It also has a showroom for current collections from its bike, motorsport and wintersport lines.

The building has an underground parking garage, which is ideal for the winter months. The garage includes a bike wash and storage space where each employee can keep two bikes and a pair of skis.
