RockShox updates Monarch shock, shock remote and Maxle

The SRAM-owned brand is also now offering its RS-1 fork in white and for 27.5.

SAN LUIS OBSIPO, Calif. (BRAIN) — RockShox announced several model year 2016 updates on Tuesday, including updates to its Monarch RT3 shock and its OneLoc suspension remote. It also is offering a new "Stealth" version of its Maxle thru-axle system and making its lightweight inverted fork, the RS-1, available in 27.5 size and in a white finish option.

Monarch RT3 updates

For 2016 the Monarch RT3 received some damper updates to enhance the shock's performance and make it more adaptable. The new version, available next month, gets a new compression piston said to reduce compression forces at high speed. An increased oil flow results in a smoother-feeling shock at high shaft speeds. It also gets an updated poppet valve that creates a better seal for "a more refined lockout feel." A new rebound circuit also increases oil flow for a wider range of rebound damping adjustment.

The Monarch RT3 will retail for $370 in the aftermarket.

OneLoc

The new OneLoc remote replaces the PushLoc remote and offers increased leverage at the bar for smoother and easier actuation. The remote can be mounted above or below the bar, on the left or on the right, and tall and standard clamps are available. It's compatible with SRAM shift and brake levers as well as the RockShox Reverb seatpost remote.  It also will be available in May and retail for $75.

Maxle Stealth

The new Maxle Stealth saves weight but requires use of a 6mm hex key.

The new Maxle thru-axle is lighter and has a lower profile than the brand's Maxle Lite and Maxle Ultimate axles, using a 6mm hex wrench for wheel installation and removal. It will be available next month in 15x100, 15x110 and 15x150 sizes and as an upgrade for SID, Reba, Revelation, Bluto and Pike forks. All sizes will retail for $39.

RS-1

The RS-1 inverted fork is now offered with a gloss white or black finish and in a 27.5-inch size in addition to the original black 29-inch version.

The 27.5-inch model has a 42mm offset chassis and 100mm and 120mm travel options.

The new versions will be available in June. All RS-1 configurations retail for $1,865.

For MY2016, the RS-1 has a gloss white option and is available for 27.5 and 29-inch.
