Stages Cycling supplies USA Cycling with power meters and indoor bikes

Published March 24, 2016

BOULDER, Colo. (BRAIN) — Stages Cycling is now supplying the official power meter and indoor bikes to USA Cycling. The agreement covers USAC's developmental programs and the USA Cycling Team on the road and track for the 2016 season, including the Rio Olympic Games.

"Stages will directly support all five disciplines, including our newly crowned world champion women's pursuit team, as they aspire to greatness in Rio de Janeiro," said Jim Miller, USA Cycling's vice president of athletics.

Stages has supplied power meters to USAC's Talent ID Camp program since 2013. That development feeder program  identifies future American cycling champions and prior to Stages involvement, USAC wasn't able to offer use of power meters to these junior riders and their coaches.

"The consistent measurement of rider power, and the ease of use of the meters were key factors in our desire to partner with Stages," said USAC's Miller. "Stages Cycling Power meters and bicycles will be integral tools for all our disciplines and our Talent ID Camps."

In 2014 Stages also took on support of USAC's European Development program.

Pat Warner, vice president of Stages Cycling and a seven-time combined USAC elite and masters national champion on the track, said, "We are very excited to increase our support of USA Cycling and their efforts to develop and grow cycling in the U.S. at all levels. Personally, though, I'm most proud of the work we're doing to provide the best technology to juniors and developing cyclists who are aspiring to be the next great American cyclists. And, of course, we're also very excited and proud to be a small part of helping to prepare America's best for the Rio Games."
