Shinola launches movement to encourage holiday shoppers to buy American

Today is Makers Monday.

DETROIT, MI (BRAIN) — With a goal of celebrating and supporting American artisans and manufacturers, Detroit-based bicycle, watch and leather goods producer Shinola has launched Makers Monday.

To support local products and manufacturing, consumers can make a pledge to buy an American-made product on Monday on the campaign’s website, MakersMonday.com

The website features a database of American makers and producers and gives additional businesses the opportunity to register. In order to make MakersMonday.com an evolving, crowd-sourced portal for things designed and made in the U.S., consumers are encouraged to suggest other artisans and producers to be listed on the site.

Makers Monday will be an annual event that takes place the Monday after Thanksgiving, widely known as Cyber Monday.

Shinola will continue to feature American producers and share related content every Monday throughout the year on Makers Monday-dedicated social networks including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Vimeo.
