Interbike Outdoor Demo Kicks Off Today

LAS VEGAS, NV (BRAIN)—The annual Interbike tradeshow kicks off today with Outdoor Demo at Bootleg Canyon outside Las Vegas. Here are a few events happening at demo and in Las Vegas during the first two days of the show:

—KHS and Marzocchi are offering a chance to win a KHS DH300 or a Marzocchi 888 Evo Ti fork. Stop by the Booth D4500 and test ride any KHS demo bike equipped with a Marzocchi fork, fill out the questionnaire to enter.

—Elete Electrolytes is giving away 50 sports bottles at 9 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. on a first come, first serve basis. Booth D2203. Also stop by to meet pro XC and endurance mountain bike racer Sarah Kaufmann.

—Visit the Camelbak Hydration Station to cool off and stay hydrated during Outdoor Demo.

—Come by FRS Healthy Energy at Booth D1090 for free FRS/Chamois Butt’r koozie and product samples all day today and Tuesday.

—Rolling O Lab product demos. Oakley Fast Jacket, Jawbone, Radar, goggles, gloves, hydration packs and warranty program. Tacos and beverages, noon to 4 p.m.

—Join IMBA for a ride with Mike Hopkins, presented by The North Face at 10 a.m. today and Tuesday. Meet at the IMBA tent, ready to ride.

—Strider Adult Races to benefit IMBA from 2 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday. Buy a $5 lottery entry for a chance to race and raffle for Tinker Juarez-signed bike. Races limited to 48 entries, must pay $20 race entry fee. Sign up at the IMBA tent.

—Join the Strava Outdoor Demo Challenge by Monday for your chance to compete on special demo trail sections and be eligible to earn great prizes. Strava, an online app for avid cyclists to track their rides, compare their performances with friends and compete online, has ridden and mapped the well known trails in Bootleg Canyon and the Tour de Lake Mead course. Four Challenge segments have been identified on Strava.com. Record all your demo rides using the free ‘Strava Cycling’ app on your iPhone, Android, or with your Garmin device*, and upload them to Strava.com. Register for a free account at Strava.com to be eligible to win.

—Today at 4 p.m., Shimano sponsors the Hammerfest Happy Hour with free cold beer and drinks, music and games.

—Tuesday, 8 to 10 a.m. Tour de Lake Mead. The 26-mile tour begins at Outdoor Demo and winds through scenic Lake Mead National Park. Before the Tour grab some breakfast sponsored by The National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Bring your own bike, or arrange to borrow one from your favorite Demo exhibitor. Shuttles depart from the Sands at 6:30 a.m.

—Seminars Tuesday: Noon to 1:30 p.m.: Sell them Something They Didn’t Intend to Buy with Mercedes Ross, Merchandising Werks. Sands 303; 2 to 3:30 p.m.: Running a Social Media Strategy for Your Bicycle Business in an Hour a Day with Lynn Switanowski-Barrett, president, Creative Business Consulting Group. Sands 303; 4 to 5:30 p.m.: Creating Financial Success for Your Bicycle Business with Lynn Switanowski-Barrett, president, Creative Business Consulting Group. Sands 303.

—The Bike Cooperative Member Meeting. Tuesday, 5 p.m. Sands 204 and 205.

—Bikes Belong BikesPAC fundraiser. Federal investment in bicycling is under attack, but as an industry we can strengthen our voice through our Political Action Committee. Make a contribution to improve bicycle safety and more accessibility. Supporting the PAC will enable us to protect and grow our industry. Venetian’s Vbar at 5:30 p.m.

—Tuesday 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.: Interbike industry party and 30th anniversary celebration. Lavo Nightclub in the Palazzo. Original members of the original 7-Eleven team will be mingling with Interbike attendees and signing copies of the new book, “Team 7-Eleven - How An Unsung Band Of American Cyclists Took On The World And Won,” written by Geoff Drake with Jim Ochowicz. Interbike will give away a copy of the new 7-Eleven book, to the first 200 people at the party. Bring your badge for entry.
