November Imports Pick Up

Published January 13, 2011

WASHINGTON, D.C. (BRAIN)—Imports through November totaled 18,952,454 units, not only the best November total in a decade—up 4,776,736 units over last year—it beat most full year imports of the decade as well.

Imports across all kid’s categories cooled a bit in November. Sidewalk, 20-inch and 24-inch imports were up 37, 26 and 55 percent respectively, still impressive but less than the gains posted in September.

Adult categories had lagged behind kid’s imports but that changed in November. Mountain and comfort bikes are up 38 percent in November, compared with gains of 31 percent through September. Road and 700c bikes are up 11 percent, compared with three percent through September.
