ALLENTOWN, PA (BRAIN)—The Gluskin Townley Group LLC came to agreement with Rails-to-Trails Conservancy (RTC) to provide strategic consulting and development of marketing opportunities for RTC’s TrailLink.com Web site.

The site, relaunched with interactive trail mapping in October 2008, has already attracted over 175,000 registered users in the U.S. TrailLink.com users are able to download maps and content allowing them to enjoy trails in their communities, across their regions, and around the country, according to a press release.

“We were approached to help Rails-to-Trails Conservancy understand who these registered users are and the power that this growing audience represents to the organization’s growth plans and advocacy efforts,” said Elliot Gluskin, managing partner. “The opportunity to partner with RTC on such a robust site that draws bicyclists and outdoor enthusiasts from around the country was one we couldn’t pass up."

When asked what the Gluskin Townley Group would provide, Keith Laughlin, president of Rails-to-Trails Conservancy said, “We sought out Elliot and Jay for their expertise providing assistance in strategic direction, research services, and development of promotional materials useful for attracting additional advertising and sponsorship dollars from bicycle industry stakeholders.”

“The opportunities actually go well beyond the bicycle industry since the registered users are active in all types of outdoor activities. This may open the door for RTC to derive benefit from the outdoor, fitness, and travel segments along with any other segments that we identify,” said Jay Townley, partner with the Gluskin Townley Group. “An added benefit is that we’ll be able to examine how changing economic conditions and demographic shifts affect this segment of the population over time."
