Motorcycle Sales Fall 4.6 Percent in Q1

Published May 19, 2010

LOS ANGELES, CA (BRAIN)—Sales of motorcycles and scooters were down 4.6 percent in the first quarter compared with the same period earlier, according to the Irvine-based Motorcycle Industry Council trade association in an LA Times article.

With stable gas prices it looks as though people aren't clamoring for better fuel options like they were a couple years back. Street bikes and scooters were hardest hit, down 7 percent and 13.3 percent respectively.

"This year is going to be rough," said Dennis Johnson, editor in chief at Dealer News, a trade magazine in Irvine that covers the power sports industry, to the LA Times.
