Published March 16, 2010

MORGAN HILL, CA (BRAIN)—Specialized Bicycles is opening up a subsidiary in Brazil.

Specialized Brazil will focus on forging lasting partnerships with independent dealers, providing them with the tools to succeed, and expanding personnel and resources to meet their needs.

Specialized Brazil will begin operations in the next 30 days through a local office in São Paulo and begin distribution on July 1.

“We are fortunate for the opportunity to further our commitment to dealers in South America, where bikes are truly a way of life,” said Specialized founder and president Mike Sinyard. “I feel very confident that by providing direct contact, service and support, we will succeed in growing our relationship with the regions’ most remarkable dealers.”

João Firmo will lead the team working very closely with Diego Vintimilla, the man who “rediscovered” South America for Specialized. Marcelo Maciel and Danny Aliperti will manage day-to-day operations.

“Specialized is dedicated to investing substantially in the Brazilian market, and I look forward to continuing to build the best team to service the best dealers,” Firmo said. “I see nothing but great potential for Specialized in Brazil.”

“We are honored to continue in the family and very excited with the future perspective. This is an important change for the Brazilian market and definitely a game changer. It is great to be part of this history and to be able to bring all of the work we’ve done in the past years to the next level with the support of Specialized. We form a great team with João and Diego and the dealers will surely benefit from this synergy. Our vision and mission for Brazil is 100 percent aligned with Specialized’s—to be the best," said Aliperti and Maciel.
