Published February 3, 2010

SAN DIEGO, CA (BRAIN)—Electra Bicycle Company has launched a new Apple iPhone application available for free download direct to your iPhone or from the iTunes Store.

The app allows Electra fans to snap and upload their own photos to share with the entire Electra community. Users can also send bikes to their friends and family and access the built-in dealer locater, which connects users to the closest Electra dealer through the iPhone’s GPS technology. Downloadable wallpapers of Electra images and photos of all six Electra bicycle collections are also available.

Electra worked with JHG, a Southern California-based digital marketing agency, to develop a Digital Asset Management (DAM) system for Electra Bicycle Company as well as the unique iPhone application.

“JHG came highly recommended as a digital marketing agency that can successfully execute an integrated campaign that incorporates web and mobile,” said Elayne Fowler, marketing director at Electra Bicycle Company. “The iPhone application and DAM system greatly expands our customer reach, supports our dealer channel and now makes it easy for our passionate group of bike enthusiasts to engage with the Electra community on the go. I’m thrilled to say, that as far as I know, we are the first bicycle company to have an iPhone app.”

“We jumped at the chance to be able to work with such a hip, blazin’ brand that fuses functional innovation with fashion design, and that has an amazing following of devoted riders,” said Jacob Shea, EVP, Interactive & Technology at JHG. “Developing Electra’s iPhone application has been a great opportunity to leverage our knowledge and experience in digital marketing and mobile technology to help further engage the Electra community and put the brand at their fingertips and in their pockets.”
