Colle+McVoy Wins Bikes Belong Business

Published October 12, 2009

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (BRAIN)—Bikes Belong, the national coalition of U.S. bicycling manufacturers, suppliers and retailers, has named Colle+McVoy its agency of record.

“Colle+McVoy impressed us with their creative credentials, resourcefulness and passion for cycling,” said Tim Blumenthal, executive director for Bikes Belong. “We are excited about this partnership and look forward to working together to engage and mobilize the general public to support bicycling in a way they never have before.”

Bikes Belong’s mission is to put more people on bicycles more often by promoting cycling, working with the federal government to maximize federal funding for bicycling, awarding grants to help create more and better places to ride and sponsoring programs to help cities and towns become more bicycle-friendly. One important challenge includes inspiring more of the millions of Americans who ride bicycles to become active supporters of the movement and help to make our nation bike friendly.

“Cycling is in our DNA at Colle+McVoy,” said Christine Fruechte, president and chief executive officer of Colle+McVoy. “We have an amazing opportunity to further the Bikes Belong mission with breakthrough ideas that have long lasting, positive effect on communities and the American culture.”

Colle+McVoy will be responsible for broad-scale marketing initiatives to create more bicycling advocates, including strategic positioning, interactive, print, design, in-store, media planning and buying and public relations. The scope also includes consumer marketing via independent and mass retail channels.

Adding Bikes Belong to the client roster is the latest chapter in Colle+McVoy’s tremendous growth story. The agency has experienced double-digit growth in recent years and expects growth to continue in 2009.
