First Dahon Flagship Taiwan Store Opens

Published December 3, 2008

DUARTE, CA (BRAIN)—Dahon has opened its first flagship store in Taiwan.

The store features more than 1,000 square feet of retail space and is located next to one of Taiwan's busiest bike paths in Taichung County, Taiwan’s bicycle manufacturing center in central Taiwan.

“The opening of a flagship store in Taiwan marks a milestone for Dahon and further confirms the strong demand seen for folding bicycles both in Taiwan and the world in general,” said Joshua Hon, Dahon vice president. "Dahon is dedicated to continually improving its products and service and this flagship store is part of our commitment to providing a great experience to our customers."

Aside from a wide range of Dahon bicycles, which customers can test ride, the store carries a full array of accessories as well as an assortment of bicycle clothing. A fully equipped service center rounds out the store’s facilities.

“With the current air of economic uncertainty and the recent spike in gas prices, cycling is becoming an increasingly viable form of transportation for many people in addition to just being a recreational activity," Hon said. "People are becoming more aware of the huge benefits that cycling has on themselves and the environment and Dahon is committed to helping foster that movement."

In the past several years, cycling has rocketed in popularity in Taiwan and the demand for folding bikes has been especially strong as city governments around the island have made a concerted effort to improve and expand biking infrastructure.

Besides the flagship store in Taiwan, there currently are more than 100 Dahon concept stores in China.
