FirstBike balance bikes feature nylon composite frame

Published April 22, 2015

LOS ANGELES (BRAIN) — FirstBike balance bikes, designed in Germany, feature a durable, weatherproof frame, Schwalbe tires, safety grips, a steering limiter and a rear drum brake.

The I-beam style frame is made of glass fiber-reinforced nylon composite. The company said it's strong enough for an adult to stand on it and has a lifetime warranty. Other features include tool-free saddle height adjustment, integrated mud guards, sealed hub bearings and a horse-saddle style seat.

The company makes bikes that fit children from 22 months to 5 years old; a lowering  kit is available separately to fit smaller children. Retail prices range from $130 to $200.
