Velocity offers new 30 mm-wide cross-country rim, the Blunt SS

Published September 5, 2014

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (BRAIN) — Velocity USA is introducing a new lightweight cross-country rim at Interbike, called the Blunt SS.

The new tubeless-ready alloy rim is 30 mm (26.6 mm internal), which is wider than its Blunt siblings, the original Blunt and the Blunt SL. The Blunt SS weighs 425 gramds for the 29-inch model and 395 grams in the 27.5-inch size.

The company said the new rim is also stronger radially and laterally than the other Blunt models. Along with the extra width, the rim's sidewalls have been shortened and the bead shelf widened to optimize tubeless tire mounting and performance, resulting in greater "burp" resistance at lower pressures.

The Blunt SS will be offered in 28 or 32-hole versions in both diameters, in a black anodized finish.

Wheelsets will start at $789.99 for a Comp build and $1079.99 for a Pro build. Other colors are expected to be available later.

The Blunt SS is manufactured and finished in Jacksonville, Fla., at Velocity USA's factory. The brand is exhibiting at Interbike in booth #8503.
