Stan's taking orders for its first carbon mountain bike wheel

Published May 1, 2014

BIG FLATS, N.Y. (BRAIN) — Stan's NoTubes is now accepting dealer orders for its first carbon mountain bike wheel, the ZTR Valor 29er Wheelset.

Stan's said the ZTR Valor's carbon rim lay-up is engineered to absorb radial vibrations to add compliance and comfort while increasing tracking and handling precision.

"With the ZTR Valor, Stan's NoTubes has constructed a light weight carbon fiber rim designed not just to be stronger than aluminum but also to perform better in real world riding conditions than the other carbon on the market," the company said.

Currently, Stan's is offering the ZTR Valor only in 29-inch. The company has not set release dates for 27.5 or 26-inch versions.

The wheelset features Stan's 3.30Ti Disc hubs, built up with 24 front spokes and 28 on the rear. Spokes are Sapim Laser 1.8/1.5 in black with Sapim Double Square Secure Lock black alloy nipples, and a red alloy valve stem.

Wheelset weights are between 1,310-1,350 grams; there is a 230 pound recommended rider weight limit.

MSRP is $1,900 per pair. They are available with QR/15mm front axles or Cannondale Lefty front hubs. Rears are either QR or 12x142 thru axle. They are available with standard Shimano-compatible cassette bodies or SRAM XD Drivers.
