Bikerumor.com bolsters full-time staff, reaches traffic milestone

Published August 8, 2014

GREENSBORO, N.C. (BRAIN) — Bikerumor.com has added former freelancer Saris Mercanti as a tech editor, growing the cycling tech blog’s full-time staff to three members. Tech editor Zach Overholt and founder Tyler Benedict are the other two full-timers.

"I’m excited to have Saris join us in a more permanent position,” said Benedict. "She's a clever writer that really knows mountain bike technology and culture. She brings a fresh voice to the site, for sure, but she also makes Bikerumor one of the very few cycling media outlets with a female tech writer. I think that gives us a real advantage."

Also now contributing to the site are Andrew Stackhouse, who ran Pirate Race Productions in Asheville, N.C., and John Herron, a former product reviewer for Dirt Rag magazine. Overseas, Cory Benson has been contributing European exclusives, and a handful of additional freelancers continue to provide content.

They join industry columnists Stacy Sims, co-founder of Osmo Nutrition, and Hunter Allen and company at Peaks Coaching, who provide monthly nutrition and training articles.

Bikerumor also announced that it topped 4 million monthly pageviews as of July 31.

"Site traffic is up considerably from last year, topping 4 million monthly pageviews for the first time ever, per Google Analytics," Benedict said. “As always, I’m particularly proud that those numbers are from content-driven pageviews, not galleries and forums. No doubt it’s these new voices and our approachable, just-having-fun style of reporting on bike brands big and small that make Bikerumor the go-to site for cycling fans everywhere.”
