BRAIN to profile influential women in its February issue

Published November 25, 2013

LAGUNA HILLS, CA (BRAIN) — Do you know a woman who has made an impact in product engineering or design, led sales for a brand, managed a global sales company or advanced a major advocacy program? Nominate her to be included in BRAIN’s list of influential women in the industry.

Bicycle Retailer & Industry News will highlight women working both at the front lines and behind the scenes at companies nationwide and abroad in its upcoming February 2014 issue. The magazine will include a special section profiling women who have contributed to the history and vitality of the industry, whether in product design, as a GM or president of a major brand, as a traveling sales rep or retailer. The magazine seeks a broad list of women within all sectors of the industry.

“Unbeknownst to many of us, women are behind some of the industry’s top suppliers, retailers and nonprofits, but many times it’s not evident from attendance at industry trade shows or conferences,” said Lynette Carpiet, the magazine’s editor. “We want to showcase these women as well as the diversity of career opportunities the industry offers.

“As more companies look to diversify their workforce, and the industry looks to grow its sales to women, it’s a good time to focus on this issue,” Carpiet added.

We encourage industry members to send us their nominees. To be considered, nominations should include the person’s full name, title and company, as well as a brief explanation of how the nominee has made an impact on the industry. All submissions must include contact information for the nominee and the person nominating the individual. Email them to lcarpiet@bicycleretailer.com. The deadline for submissions is Friday, Dec. 6.
